Liverpool eyeing up a move for Nico Williams

Athletic Bilbao attacker Nico Williams has reportedly emerged as a transfer target for Liverpool.

There have been rumours linking the 20-year-old winger to Liverpool in recent transfer windows, and there is currently a lot of speculation about his future as the summer transfer market approaches.

According to a report by AS, the Reds may try to acquire Williams at the end of the season, while Aston Villa are also keeping close eye on the Spaniard’s situation.

The report also states that Athletic Bilbao are considering to extend Williams’ contract, which is set to expire in June 2024. His current contract includes a release clause of €50m, which would make him a relatively inexpensive option in the summer transfer market given his potential.

The Spain international has been a regular starter for Athletic this season, racking up 32 matches across all competitions and contributing seven goals and six assists.

He has had a successful season in La Liga, contributing four goals and five assists in 26 appearances for the club, who are currently seventh in the league table.

In addition, the youngster has scored three goals and provided one assist in six Copa del Rey matches, with Athletic currently in the semi-finals of the competition.

His versatility and ability to play in different positions have reportedly made him an attractive target for Liverpool.
