AC Milan Reignite Interest in Manchester United Defender Leny Yoro as Jorge Mendes Steps In

Milan Eye January Move for Yoro

AC Milan have reportedly revived their interest in Manchester United centre-back Leny Yoro, with Calciomercato claiming that super agent Jorge Mendes is working on a possible switch to Serie A.

The Rossoneri failed to land a new central defender before the summer window closed, despite links to Sporting CP’s Goncalo Inacio and Lecce’s Tiago Gabriel. Neither deal materialised, and Milan are expected to try again in January, with Yoro now under consideration.

Yoro’s Limited Game Time at Old Trafford

United signed the Frenchman from Lille for €62 million in 2024, yet he is still waiting to become a regular fixture. He has made 70 appearances in all competitions but only four this term: two in the Premier League, one in the Champions League and one in the EFL Cup. He is yet to start a league match.

That lack of minutes could prompt Mendes, who also represents the player, to explore alternatives if his situation does not improve.

Why Milan Could Appeal to Yoro

Milan can offer the prospect of regular football, and the 20-year-old’s composure on the ball would suit a side that wants its defenders to contribute during build-up play. Valued at around €50 million, Yoro would not come cheap, but owner Gerry Cardinale has shown he is willing to back the club financially when he sees genuine value.

Our Opinion: A Difficult Call for United

Selling a player of Yoro’s age and potential is a considerable gamble. Centre-backs often take time to reach their peak, and a 20-year-old with a top-level education already behind him is a rare asset. Letting him go for less than the fee paid would also sting.

On the other hand, a player who is not featuring cannot develop, and a fresh environment in Italy, where defending is treated as an art form, could accelerate his growth. Much will depend on whether United’s coaching staff see him as a long-term starter or a talented understudy. Either way, January could be a defining month for the youngster.
