Red Devils weighing up bold approach for Juventus’ No.1

Manchester United are reportedly setting their sights on Juventus goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio as they continue their search for a long-term No.1. According to Juve-Live, the 28-year-old Italian has emerged as a serious option for the Red Devils ahead of the January transfer window.

United were tipped to secure a new first-choice keeper in the summer but left it late, eventually signing Belgian stopper Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp on deadline day. While Lammens is viewed as a long-term option, there are doubts about whether he is ready to step straight into the starting XI. With Andre Onana’s departure to Trabzonspor and plans to move him on permanently next summer, the need for a reliable new goalkeeper has become urgent.

Di Gregorio emerges as a top target

Di Gregorio’s stock has risen sharply in recent seasons. After impressing on loan at Monza, Juventus made his deal permanent this summer. He has quickly established himself as a key figure under Igor Tudor, becoming one of the most dependable goalkeepers in Serie A.

However, prising him away from Turin will not be easy. Juventus see Di Gregorio as a mainstay for the present and future, meaning Manchester United would likely have to table a huge offer to even spark negotiations.

Competition and alternatives

The Italian is not the only name on United’s radar. The club are also considering Aston Villa star Emiliano Martinez, a player they tracked closely in the summer. With January approaching, the Red Devils are expected to assess several targets before deciding who can realistically become their new No.1.

For now, Di Gregorio remains high on the list – but unless United make an irresistible offer, Juventus are unlikely to sanction a mid-season departure for their star goalkeeper.
