Everton in Advanced Talks to Sign Malick Fofana from Lyon
Everton are reportedly in advanced negotiations with Lyon to secure the signing of exciting young winger Malick Fofana, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The 20-year-old Belgian international joined Lyon from Gent during the previous January window and quickly established himself as a key figure on the flanks. Despite a modest start—making his debut as a substitute in a Coupe de France defeat to Le Havre—Fofana ended the season with an impressive 17 goal contributions, drawing interest from several Premier League giants including Chelsea, Liverpool, and Arsenal.

Everton Leading the Race
While those top clubs continue to monitor the situation, it’s Everton who are moving fastest. Romano reports that the Toffees are in advanced talks with both Lyon and Fofana’s representatives. The Merseyside club have already submitted an official bid and are now working to finalise terms with the player.
Valued at £26 million by Transfermarkt, Fofana is seen as a marquee signing for the new era at Hill Dickinson Stadium. Everton are not only negotiating with Lyon, but also working to agree on personal terms with the winger, signalling serious intent to get the deal done swiftly.
Toffees’ Summer Revamp Continues
Fofana would be the latest addition to an ambitious transfer window for Everton. The club have already bolstered their ranks with Thierno Barry from Villarreal and Mark Travers from Bournemouth. Additionally, Charly Alcaraz’s loan move has been made permanent.
Manager David Moyes is keen to reshape his squad and sees Fofana as a player who can bring pace, flair, and creativity to Everton’s attacking play.
If the deal goes through, Fofana could be a transformative signing—bringing a fresh burst of energy and excitement to Goodison Park as the Toffees aim to rise up the Premier League table.
