Tottenham step up Jacob Ramsey pursuit
Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly opened discussions to sign Aston Villa star Jacob Ramsey, according to transfer insider Mike Brown via Football Insider.
With new manager Thomas Frank now at the helm, Spurs have had a relatively quiet start to the summer transfer window. The club has been exploring attacking reinforcements, with names like Eberechi Eze, Antoine Semenyo, and Bryan Mbeumo linked. However, those targets now seem unlikely—Eze reportedly prefers Arsenal, Semenyo has signed a new deal with Bournemouth, and Mbeumo is pushing for a move to Manchester United, who are struggling to agree terms with Brentford.
Ramsey Emerges as a Target
As top attacking targets slip away, Spurs have expanded their shortlist and identified Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey as a serious option. Mike Brown reports that Tottenham have monitored the 24-year-old’s development for several seasons and have now initiated talks with his representatives to explore a potential move.
“Tottenham have been looking at Jacob Ramsey. Thomas Frank rates him and he’s one Spurs have been interested in for a while,” Brown revealed. “They’ve had scouts watching him closely and are now in touch with his agent about the requirements to make a deal happen.”
Villa Open to Sale as Ramsey Considers Exit
Ramsey is reportedly concerned about limited playing time at Villa Park next season under Unai Emery. With Villa aiming to raise funds for further reinforcements, they may be open to cashing in on the academy graduate.
The midfielder is valued at around £28 million by Transfermarkt and has two years remaining on his current deal. Known for his versatility, Ramsey can play on the left wing or as a box-to-box midfielder in a three-man midfield—attributes that appeal to Frank’s tactical setup.

Still only 24, Ramsey offers Premier League experience and positional flexibility. Should Spurs push through with the deal, he could prove to be a smart and strategic addition to their midfield rebuild this summer.
