Manchester United set sights on Takefusa Kubo

Manchester United are eyeing a move for Real Sociedad winger Takefusa Kubo, who is also a target for Real Madrid.

The 22-year-old, who arrived at Madrid in 2019, struggled to secure consistent playing time and was loaned out. However, since joining Real Sociedad, he has scored 25 goals in 53 appearances.

Man United’s interest in Kubo arises from the fallout between Jadon Sancho and manager Erik ten Hag, as Sancho appears set for an exit.

Ten Hag sees Kubo as a potential solution for the right-wing position. Yet, securing Kubo won’t be straightforward, as Los Blancos retain significant influence over his future.

Real Madrid have the right of first refusal and can match any offer from other clubs. Furthermore, if no bids materialise, they can reacquire Kubo for half of his €60 million termination clause, which they are willing to pay. This puts Manchester United in competition with Real Madrid for the talented Japanese winger.

While the Red Devils aim to strengthen its attack with Kubo, Real Madrid also considers bringing him back to bolster their squad. The battle for Kubo’s signature between these two football giants adds intrigue to his potential transfer to Old Trafford.
