Man United eye move for Manuel Akanji
Manchester United have allegedly earmarked Borussia Dortmund centre-back Manuel Akanji as their top summer transfer targets.
The Switzerland international has less than 18 months left to run on his contract and his future with BVB remains uncertain, as talks over an extension have halted.
A previous report has emerged that the 26-year-old has turned down the club’s latest contract offer worth around €9.5m per year.
According to Bild, the Red Devils are prepared to offer Akanji a lucrative new contract worth £240,000-per-week, which would be close to double that he is currently earning at Westfalenstadion.
The report goes on to claim that the Bundesliga giants will not stand in Akanji’s way if he wants to leave and they would be open to cash offers lower than their previous asking price worth €25m.
The centre-back has played 150 times for BVB in all competitions, including 28 games this campaign.
