Report – Manchester United want PSG star Mauro Icardi
Paris Saint-Germain forward Mauro Icardi is reportedly the subject of interest from Manchester United.
According to Gazzetta Dello Sport via TEAMtalk, the Red Devils have identified the Argentine as a potential replacement for soon-to-be free agent Edinson Cavani should he leave the club.
Cavani’s contract is due to expire at the end of June, and there is a rumour that the former PSG star will end his short-lived stint with the Mancunian giants this summer.
The report suggests, Icardi would represent a cut-price alternative to the likes of Haaland and Kane, both of whom would be unlikely to leave their respective clubs for less than £100m this summer.
The report adds that the Ligue 1 champions may be willing to let Icardi leave for €40m in the summer transfer window, although much could depend on whether they can strike a permanent deal for Moise Kean at the Parc des Princes.
Icardi’s season has been hampered by injuries, but he nevertheless chipped in with five goals and four assists from 15 Ligue 1 appearances.
