West Ham United lead race to sign Hellas Verona midfielder Antonin Barak

West Ham United are reportedly set to pip Newcastle United to the signature of Hellas Verona midfielder Antonin Barak.

The 27-year-old has been impressive for the Serie A outfit so far this campaign, contributing five goals and three assists in 15 top flight appearances.

According to Sport Witness, the Czech Republic international would favour a move to West Ham over Newcastle, as the Hammers are competing in Europe, while the Magpies are struggling to avoid the risk of relegation to the Championship.

The report continues that European football would play an important part in Barak’s decision, should the midfielder decide to leave the Gialloblu in one of the upcoming transfer windows.

Barak is valued at around €20m, however, the Italian side would prefer to wait until the summer before considering a potential sale.
