Watford consider loan approach for Burnley centre-back Ben Gibson?

Watford have reportedly placed emphasis on signing Burnley defender Ben Gibson on a loan deal.

The 27-year-old England international joined the Clarets in a £15m deal from Middlesbrough in August 2018 but has since made just six appearances for the Premier League outfit.

According to the Evening Standard, Watford manager Nigel Pearson is keen to bring in Gibson to secure their Premier League status in the second half of the season and has been in discussions over a potential deal.

The report says that the Hornets would cover the entire cost of the centre-back’s wages – which is thought to be around £50,000 a week – and would want an option to make the move permanent in the summer, but the Clarets have rejected their initial advances.
