United targeting Athletic Bilbao Midfielder

Premier league champions Manchester United are set to sign Athletic Bilbao midfielder Ander Herrera in January, reports talkSPORT.

However, the 24-year-old central defender stated earlier that Athletic Bilbao is the “perfect place” to continue his career.

The spaniard was heavily in talks with a move to Old Trafford during the summer, and the report claims that Man United manager David Moyes is all set to bring him at Premier League to bolster their midfield when January transfer window opens.

Herrera told Canal Plus Spain,

“I appreciate very much that Manchester United made a very important offer for me and also that Athletic did not accept it.”

“That means that Athletic value me above money and trust in their project more than a large offer.”

“I’m where I wanted to be in this day, not someone who has played for six or seven clubs. I like to feel good where I am, take root and Athletic is the perfect place for me.”
