Barcelona have reportedly expressed an interest in making an audacious move for Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gomez as the Catalan giants seek for a replacement for the ageing Luis Suarez.
The Uruguayan striker has lost his edge this season, scoring just two goals in Barca’s last 10 matches, and he is expected to be phased out.
Mundo Deportivo reports that Barcelona chiefs favour Gomez over many high-profile names as he already has experience of playing in the Spanish league with Celta over the last two seasons.
Gomez, 22, who has a release clause of £43m, could prove a stumbling block.
Should the reigning La Liga champions miss out on Gomez they may instead turn their attention on signing one of Andre Silva or Luka Jovic.
