Real Madrid star Gareth Bale voted Wales player of the year

Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale set a new milestone to his career after being named the Welsh footballer of the year on Monday

It is the fourth time the 25-year-old winger has won the award, breaks Mark Hughes and John Hartson’s record, who received the award on three occasions.

The former Tottenham player enjoyed an impressive first season after moving to Madrid in a world record £85m transfer, scored 15 times in 27 La Liga appearances and helped the club to win the Champions League and the Copa del Rey.

Bale has scored 10 times in his last 11 internationals, who also won the fans’ player of the year award for the fourth year in succession.
