Netherlands coach: Guus Hiddink to replace Louis van Gaal

The Dutch Football Federation (KNVB) have announced the Ex-Anzhi Makhachkala manager Guus Hiddink to replace Louis van Gaal as the new head coach of Netherlands after the completion of World Cup 2014 this summer.

Hiddink, 67, will remain with the team as the new coach along with the former Netherlands international Danny Blind and Ruud van Nistelrooy, who will act as Hiddink’s assistants until the end of European championships 2016 in France.

Having a wealth of managerial experience, the Dutchman has coached a number of top clubs including Real Madrid, PSV Eindhoven and Chelsea. During his interim manager stint at Chelsea, Hiddink won the FA Cup glory in 2009.

The Netherlands will fight against the reigning world champions Spain, Chile and Australia during the group stages (Group B) of World Cup 2014.
