Manchester United frontrunners to sign Axel Disasi

Manchester United reportedly seem ready to try to win the race to sign Monaco centre-back Axel Disasi.

The 25-year-old has caught the eye of several Premier League clubs due to his impressive performance during the 2022-23 campaign. He has made a total of 41 appearances in all competitions, scoring six goals and providing four assists.

Disasi has also represented France at the 2022 World Cup, featuring in three games, including the final against Argentina as a late substitute. While he has two years left on his current contract, rumours suggest that the centre-back may leave Monaco this summer.

Manchester United, Chelsea, and Manchester City have all expressed interest in the Frenchman’s services. However, according to reports from Football Insider, Manchester United are leading the race to secure his signature, with Chelsea and Manchester City not far behind.

Monaco are eager to keep Disasi on their team, but they may be willing to let him go for the right price. Erik ten Hag’s side have been consistently scouting the France international throughout the campaign, and it appears that their efforts have yielded positive results.

It is expected that the Red Devils will undergo a significant defensive shake-up this season, with club captain Harry Maguire among the potential outgoings. Martinez is out for the season with a fractured metatarsal, while Varane will be sidelined for several weeks with an injury he suffered against Sevilla.

Aside from Maguire, Victor Lindelof could also leave Old Trafford this summer to seek regular playing time. Meanwhile, Phil Jones, Axel Tuanzebe, and Eric Bailly are not part of Erik ten Hag’s plans for the upcoming 2023-24 season.
