Liverpool join Arsenal in race to sign Bundesliga defender

Liverpool have reportedly joined the race to sign Freiburg defender Caglar Soyuncu, according to Turkish-football.com, as quoted by the Daily Mirror.

The Reds are interested in a potential deal to sign Turkish defender but face competition from their rivals Arsenal.

The report claims that the Merseyside outfit sent scouts to watch Soyuncu in action during Turkey’s 1-1 draw with Russia in a friendly match on Tuesday night with view to a potential deal for the centre-back.

Liverpool consider Soyuncu as a potential candidate to become a long-term defensive partner with Virgil van Dijk at Anfield.

However, Arsenal’s head of recruitment Sven Mislintat is said to be a big admirer of the Turkey international, who is known to be on the Gunners’ wishlist this summer.

The report goes on to claim that Atletico Madrid, Manchester United and Manchester City have also credited with an interest in the defender in the past.
