Leeds United eye move for Ligue 1 star Evann Guessand
Leeds United are weighing up a summer move for OGC Nice forward Evann Guessand, as they look to bolster their attacking options ahead of their return to the Premier League.
According to TBR Football’s Graeme Bailey, the Whites are among several clubs showing strong interest in the 24-year-old Ivorian, who enjoyed a standout 2024/25 campaign in Ligue 1. Guessand netted 13 goals and registered 10 assists in 42 appearances across all competitions, catching the eye with his pace, power, and positional flexibility.

A Rising Talent in French Football
Since breaking into the first team at OGC Nice back in January 2020, Guessand has steadily developed into one of Ligue 1’s most versatile and dangerous attackers. Born in Ajaccio, the Ivory Coast international has become a reliable performer for the French outfit, and his standout numbers last season have turned heads across Europe.
His ability to play across the front three makes him a valuable asset, especially for a club like Leeds, who need depth and dynamism in attack to survive the rigours of Premier League football.
Premier League Battle Brewing
Leeds United aren’t alone in the race. Sunderland and Turkish giants Fenerbahce are also keen on Guessand, but the attacker is reportedly open to a move to England—an encouraging sign for Leeds. The club sees Guessand as someone who can complement Joel Piroe and offer an additional goal threat as they prepare for life back in the top flight.
While Leeds have been linked with other forwards, including Newcastle’s Callum Wilson, Guessand represents a younger, high-upside option who fits their long-term vision.
A formal bid from Leeds could be on the cards soon, with the player seemingly ready for a new challenge. If secured, Guessand could be a key figure in the Whites’ survival push for the 2025/26 season.
