Igor Matanovic to Man Utd, Arsenal or Chelsea? Freiburg Set £50m Price Tag
Freiburg Stand Firm on Valuation
SC Freiburg are in no hurry to sell Igor Matanovic. According to TEAMtalk, the Bundesliga side will not entertain offers below £50 million, with that figure potentially rising towards £60 million. Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea have all been linked, and a January approach looks possible.

Matanovic’s Impressive Form
Freiburg signed the striker for a modest fee last summer, and he has repaid them handsomely. He scored 15 goals in his debut campaign, helping the club qualify for the Conference League. This season, the 23-year-old has gone up a gear, netting six times in seven games across all competitions.
No Pressure to Sell
With his contract running until 2029, Freiburg hold all the cards. Losing their main goal threat midway through the season would hurt their ambitions, so any suitor must meet the asking price in full.
Which Clubs Could Make a Move?
United are reportedly weighing up a bid next year and could sell Joshua Zirkzee to create room. They have also been linked with Crystal Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta. Arsenal have looked at Inter’s Francesco Pio Esposito, while Erling Haaland has also been mentioned. Chelsea are expected to monitor developments, given their focus on young talent.
Matanovic Transfer Analysis: Opinion
A fee of up to £60 million for a player with just one full top-flight season behind him is steep. Even so, in-form young strikers rarely come cheap in today’s market, and Freiburg know it. Chelsea’s recruitment model makes them the most natural fit, though United may be tempted if Zirkzee departs.
