Everton keen on signing Nick Pope

Everton are reportedly considering Newcastle’s Nick Pope as a replacement for Jordan Pickford, according to The Sun. Pickford, who has been Everton’s No. 1 since his £30 million move from Sunderland in 2017, has come under scrutiny for his performances this season, conceding 13 goals in four games.

His recent display in the 3-2 loss to Aston Villa, where Everton squandered a 2-0 lead, has added fuel to the speculation about his future.

Sean Dyche, who previously worked with Pope at Burnley, is eyeing the Newcastle goalkeeper as an ideal replacement. Pope, 32, remains Newcastle’s first-choice keeper, but with Eddie Howe’s side linked to Burnley’s James Trafford, the door could open for Pope to make a switch.

With Pope’s contract expiring in less than two years, the upcoming winter transfer window might be Newcastle’s chance to cash in, provided they secure a new goalkeeper. For Dyche, Pope’s experience could be pivotal in Everton’s bid to stabilise their rocky season.
