Chelsea in pole position to sign Konstantinos Karetsas

Chelsea are making early moves ahead of the summer transfer window, with Belgian prodigy Konstantinos Karetsas emerging as a serious target. The 17-year-old Genk sensation has been linked with European giants Bayern Munich, but it’s the Blues who are reportedly leading the race.

According to journalist Christian Falk, Chelsea have already opened talks with Karetsas’ representatives, showing firm intent to secure the versatile attacker. Bayern Munich have scouted the teenager and added him to their shortlist, but are yet to formalise their interest.

Who is Konstantinos Karetsas?

Karetsas, born in Belgium but a Greece international, came through the youth systems of Genk and Anderlecht before returning to Genk in 2023. Since breaking into the first team in May 2024, he has clocked 31 appearances, contributing 3 goals and 4 assists.

The left-footed playmaker excels as a number 10 but is equally effective on the wings. With a €40 million (£34m) price tag and a contract running until 2027, Genk won’t let him go easily.

Whether Chelsea view Karetsas as a first-team addition or a loan-out prospect remains to be seen, but his potential is undeniable. The move would align with Chelsea’s strategy of investing in Europe’s most promising young talents under Enzo Maresca’s project.
