Arsenal want to re-sign AC Milan’s Ismael Bennacer?

Arsenal have reportedly made an approach to re-sign Ismael Bennacer from AC Milan next year.

The 25-year-old spent two years at the Emirates between 2015 and 2017. He left the Gunners to sign for Empoli and immediately established himself as a regular starter in the Italian top flight, which earned him a move to the Rossoneri in 2019.

The Algeria international has been impressive under Stefano Pioli, racking up 126 appearances for the club and contributing four goals and eight assists in the process.

However, Bennacer is about to enter the final 18 months of his contract in Milan. A number of clubs are believed to be keeping a close eye on Bennacer’s future, including Manchester United.

Tuttomercatoweb claims that Arsenal are also keeping tabs on the situation and could make a move for their former youth product.

Milan could be pressured into a sale at the end of the campaign before he leaves on a free transfer in 2024.

The Gunners will return to Premier League action on Boxing Day against West Ham United.
