Arsenal are reportedly closing in on the signing of Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is said to be interested in a new shot-stopper ahead of the 2021-22 season, especially with the 26-year-old Alex Runarsson struggling to impress.
According to Dutch outlet NOS, the North Londoners are expected to wrap up a deal for Onana over the next few days, and the shot-stopper’s doping ban could see them strike a cut-price deal.
The 25-year-old is currently serving a suspension until February 2022, but an appeal over his ban has been lodged and the Court of Arbitration for Sport will determine the verdict this week.
The report adds that the Cameroon international could cost Arsenal up to £7.75m if the ban is shortened.
Onana has kept 83 clean sheets in 204 appearances for the Eredivisie champions.
