According to reports, Arsenal may enter the competition with Barcelona in their pursuit of Manchester City defender Joao Cancelo during the summer transfer window.
Currently, Arsenal’s primary full-back choices are Ben White and Oleksandr Zinchenko. Takehiro Tomiyasu and Kieran Tierney serve as backup options, but manager Mikel Arteta may seek an upgrade.
Tomiyasu is currently sidelined with a knee injury, and there are suggestions that he may not be fit until early October. Meanwhile, Tierney has been strongly linked with a move to Newcastle United due to his struggles in securing a regular starting position.
In light of these circumstances, Fichajes claims that the Gunners could make a move for Cancelo, who might be available for around £35 million.
The Portugal international, who joined Bayern Munich on loan from Manchester City in January, will be returning to the Etihad as the Bavarians have no intentions of purchasing him.
The Gunners could potentially face competition from Barca in their attempt to acquire the former Inter Milan player. Cancelo’s versatility in being able to play in both full-back roles, combined with his impressive tally of 14 goal involvements this season, could make him a valuable asset and a likely candidate for a regular starting position.
