Arsenal step up interest in West Brom defender Jonny Evans

Arsenal have emerged as rumoured suitors for West Brom defender Jonny Evans, according to The Daily Mail.

Arsenal and Premier League leaders Manchester City are both contemplating about making a January bids to sign West Bromwich Albion captain Jonny Evans.

However, the same report adds that The Baggies are hoping to persuade the Northern Ireland international to stay at The Hawthorns and extend a new contract worth £100,000-a-week.

The Gunners were linked with a move to sign the 29-year-old defender back in the summer transfer window but a move failed to materialise as the north Londoners ended up not landing a new defender at the Emirates.

Arsenal and the other heavyweights of Premier League are bound to be linked with a number of players in the mid-season as the January transfer window edges closer.
