Liverpool join race for Alvaro Fernandez Carreras

Liverpool’s interest in Benfica’s young full-back Álvaro Fernández Carreras signals their intent to plan for the future as Andrew Robertson approaches his 30s.

Fernández, who left Manchester United for Benfica, has impressed in Portugal, drawing attention from Europe’s elite, including Barcelona and Real Madrid.

The 21-year-old offers a dynamic presence on the left side, making him a prime target for Liverpool, who seek a long-term replacement for Robertson. The allure of proving himself in the Premier League after his brief stint at United could make the move particularly appealing for Fernández.

Barcelona and Real Madrid also have their eyes on Fernández, with both clubs needing to secure quality defensive reinforcements. However, Barcelona’s financial limitations might make it challenging to outbid Liverpool, while Real Madrid are similarly focused on securing a successor for their full-back position, having been linked with Miguel Gutierrez as well.

The battle for Fernández will be fierce, and Manchester United might regret letting him go if he becomes a star for their rivals.
