West Ham United join race to sign Gianluca Scamacca
|West Ham United are reportedly among a few clubs looking to swoop for Sassuolo’s £25 million-rated striking powerhouse Gianluca Scamacca, according to The Sun.
The Hammers are desperate to bring a top-tier striker to the London Stadium and have stepped up their pursuit to sign the Italy international during the upcoming summer transfer window.
The 23-year-old, who is also wanted by Arsenal, joined Sassuolo from PSV in 2017. He found his Serie A breakthrough only last season at Genoa, netting eight goals in 26 appearances.
Scamacca’s impressive run of form has led to a call-up to Roberto Mancini’s Italian national squad this season.
After failing to sign a frontman earlier this year, West Ham United appear to have turned their attention to the Sassuolo attacker, as manager David Moyes looks to strengthen his strike force ahead of the 2022/23 season.
Scamacca has a contract at the Mapei Stadium until June 2026, which puts the Serie A outfit in a strong position in potential transfer negotiations.
