Tottenham Hotspur on verge of signing Fraser Forster
|Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly closing in on the signing of Southampton goalkeeper Fraser Forster on a free transfer.
According to the Daily Mail, Spurs are expected to wrap up a deal for the 34-year-old stopper, who is out of contract at St Mary’s at the end of June.
The English shot-stopper has reportedly taken a pay cut to join the Lilywhites, and is set to complete his medical.
The north London outfit have expressed their desire to secure the services of Forster, who had fallen down the pecking order over the last few seasons. He also spent a year-long loan at Celtic FC and was the Saints’ first-choice goalie for half of the current season.
He racked up 19 appearances in the English top flight this season, taking his tally for Saints to 162 appearances in all competitions.
If the deal goes through, Forster will play second-fiddle to Hugo Lloris, who played every match for Spurs this season and is expected to continue in a similar fashion if he remains fit.
