Southampton: Jay Rodriguez out for six months
|Southampton Football Club have confirmed that striker Jay Rodriguez has been ruled out of action for six months and will miss the summer’s FIFA World Cup in Brazil following ruptures anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.
Rodriguez picked up the injury during Southampton‘s 4-1 Premier League defeat at Manchester City on Saturday.
The England international had hoped to be member of England squad for the summer’s world cup in Brazil, having scored 17 goals in 45 appearances in all competitions for the Saints this season, but now the 24-year-old is expected to be out until October and will miss the World Cup 2014.
Rodriguez is likely to be sidelined for around six months and therefore is ruled out for the rest of the season. #GetWellSoonJay #saintsfc

Southampton director Les Reed said in a statement: “Everything will be done to deliver a speedy recovery.”
“Jay is naturally disappointed, but is determined to get back playing for Saints as soon as possible.”
With this injury blow, England are already without Arsenal forward Theo Walcott for the summer’s world cup, who picked up the injury earlier in this year.
