Newcastle United interested in signing Boubacar Kamara

Newcastle United have reportedly placed emphasis on signing Marseille midfielder Boubacar Kamara in the summer transfer window.

The 22-year-old has proven himself to be a key figure for the Ligue 1 outfit this season, making 23 appearances in the French top flight, while he has also made five appearances in the Europa League.

However, Kamara’s contract is due to expire when the season ends, and he has already refused to extend his stay, opening the door to a move in his future.

According to The Northern Echo, the Magpies have opened up talks with Les Olympiens about the possibility of signing the centre-back in the summer, but they could face fierce competition to land his signature.

A number of other clubs are interested in buying the Frenchman before next season, as Manchester United, West Ham United and Crystal Palace are all said to be monitoring the situation ahead of a possible bid during the summer.
