Manchester City to re-sign Ilkay Gundogan

Ilkay Gundogan’s situation at Barcelona has taken an unexpected turn, with the German midfielder reportedly seeking a return to Manchester City. After only a few months at the Nou Camp, Gundogan, who signed for Barcelona on a free transfer from City last summer, is reportedly unhappy with his current situation. Rumours of his desire to leave have been fuelled by his recent omission from Barcelona’s squad.

Gundogan enjoyed a trophy-laden seven years at Manchester City under Pep Guardiola, and the prospect of reuniting with his former coach is a tempting one. Sources suggest that Gundogan has already initiated contact with Guardiola about a potential return to the Premier League champions.

However, the interest in Gundogan isn’t limited to just Manchester City. His former club Borussia Dortmund and Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich are also monitoring the situation closely. Barcelona, facing Financial Fair Play constraints, might be open to letting Gundogan leave on a free transfer, despite his significant status at the club.

This potential move could be a win-win, allowing Gundogan to find familiar ground in Manchester while helping Barcelona manage their financial challenges.
