Man United retain interest in Cody Gakpo?
|Manchester United are reportedly prepared to up their efforts to secure a deal for PSV Eindhoven attacker Cody Gakpo in the January transfer window.
The Netherlands international has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford following an impressive World Cup spell at the 2022 World Cup, scoring in all three group matches against Senegal, Ecuador and Qatar.
The 23-year-old has scored 21 goals and registered 15 assists in 47 appearances for PSV across all competitions last campaign, and he has contributed 13 goals and 17 assists in 24 games so far this season.
Cristiano Ronaldo has left Manchester United, the Premier League giants are on the lookout for a replacement, with Gakpo believed to be one of four attackers on the club’s shortlist.
According to talkSPORT, the Red Devils are determined to lure the highly-rated attacker to Old Trafford in the New Year and the club’s hierarchy are prepared to back Ten Hag when the mid-season transfer window opens.
The 20-time English champions are believed to be the only club who have made contact with the Dutch outfit to discuss a possible January deal for Gakpo.
The Dutchman has spent his entire career with PSV and he is currently under contract at the Philips Stadion until 2026.
