Gareth Bale set for new Real Madrid contract
|The Welsh international Gareth Bale is set to sign a new contract at Real Madrid.
The former Tottenham star has been linked with a move back to the English Premier League, with Manchester United have been linked with him constantly over the last few months – but it seems that the midfielder wants to remain at Santiago Bernabeu for the couple of more years.
Express are claiming that the agreement ties the 27-year-old to the club until 2022 and the player has agreed to a deal worth around £350,000-a-week.
Despite Bale’s inconsistencies, the winger has helped the club to two Champions League titles in the last three seasons.
Obviously, the president of Real Madrid Florentino Perez has no interest in letting him go away from the Spanish capital and has therefore offered him a lucrative deal to fend off interest from the Red Devils.
Real Madrid have paid a world record fee for the Welshman back in 2013 and it is no surprise that they want to keep a hold on to him now. Also, it doesn’t make any sense for him to make a switch away from Real Madrid to join a club without Champions League football.
Bale has scored 4 times in 10 La Liga appearances so far this season.
