Chelsea could move for Cristiano Ronaldo in January

Chelsea are weighing up a January move for Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo.

The 37-year-old has found it difficult to display his best form this season, scoring two goals from 12 appearances in all competitions.

Ronaldo hit the headlines on Wednesday evening when he refused to enter the field as a late substitute in the Premier League action against Tottenham Hotspur.

The Red Devils are allegedly prepared to let the Portugal international leave for free in January, while they are also open to a loan move for the rest of the campaign.

The Blues were strongly linked with the former Real Madrid star over the summer, with the club’s new owners believed to have been keen to secure his signature.

According to Sunday World, Chelsea could make a move for Ronaldo in the early stages of the new year.

The report adds that the west London outfit could attempt to sign the experienced striker on a short-term deal in January.

Manchester United are believed to be contemplating the possibility of terminating Ronaldo’s contract, with a couple of MLS clubs also expressing an interest.
