Buendia in Line for New Aston Villa Deal After Stunning Turnaround

Emiliano Buendia looks set to be handed a fresh contract at Aston Villa, with discussions over an extended stay at Villa Park already underway following a stunning personal revival.

The Argentine attacker has clawed his way back into Unai Emery’s thinking after being pushed to the margins of the squad not long ago, and his displays throughout 2026 have convinced the club to open talks.

Villa Move to Tie Down Key Attacking Option

Buendia’s existing deal runs until the summer of 2027, and Villa also hold the option of a further twelve-month extension. Even so, the Midlands outfit are reluctant to let such an important creative presence drift into the closing year of his contract without settling matters sooner rather than later. He arrived from Norwich City back in 2021 for a reported £33 million.

Just over a year ago, Buendia was barely involved under Emery and was even made available to Birmingham City. Since then, he’s rebuilt himself into one of Villa’s most dependable attacking figures, capped by a memorable strike in last May’s Europa League final win over Freiburg — the club’s first major honour since 1996.

His scoring form has continued into this campaign, with another eye-catching goal arriving in Villa’s 3-2 win over Tottenham, his third in as many outings at that venue. It’s the kind of consistency that suggests his struggles are firmly in the past.
