Will Liverpool sell their £16m Star in January?

According to the reports from ESPN, Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel is on target by his former Russian club, Zenit St. Petersburg to secure his services for £16 million bid in January transfer window.

The 28-year-old, Skrtel was failed to build a good impression in last season, especially during the second half, as The Reds manager, Brendan Rodgers preferred Jamie Carragher in place of him. Though it was clear that Skrtel’s future at Anfield in doubt.

Even during the summer transfer window, the future of defender was uncertain. The Reds were linked with top defenders and it was cleared that the Slovakian will not get the regular place.

In this season, he has done a great job in defence position for The Reds, along with Kolo Toure and Mamadou Sakho/Daniel Agger. His presence in the team could be vital as the Reds are looking to get on the top of the table. He performed terrific in this season so far and solely on the merit of his performance for the Reds, he should stay at the Anfield and it will be tough for any new players to get into the system in his absence.

On the other side, Skrtel is 28 and there are very few clubs that would pay such handsome fee for him. Liverpool can use the money to make a swoop for their primary January transfer target Kyriakos Papadopoulos from Bundesliga side, Schalke 04.

So, what’s your take on this January transfer window, Should Liverpool sell Skrtel?
