Man United to move for Jordi Alba?
Manchester United are reportedly keeping an eye on Barcelona defender Jordi Alba due to the uncertainty surrounding Luke Shaw’s future at the Old Trafford, the Manchester Evening News claims.
Shaw, 21, has made just two starts for the Red Devils since November, with the likes of Marcos Rojo, Matteo Darmian, Daley Blind and Ashley Young having played at left-back during that time too.
United boss Jose Mourinho has previously ruled out a summer departure for the England international, but the Portuguese manager is also understood to have identified the left-back as a problem area.
The report claims, the 20-time English champions have targeted Alba as a possible solution for their defence, with the Spaniard reportedly unsettled at the Camp Nou having been left out in recent matches.
The 28-year-old, whose contract runs out in 2020, would be open to a move at the end of the season should his situation at Camp Nou not resolve itself.
Manchester United could face tough competition for Alba’s signature from Premier League rivals Manchester City, with the left-back likely to command a fee somewhere in the region of £25m.
