Arsenal expect Ozil to extend his contract

Arsenal are hopeful that their star attacker Mesut Ozil will sign a new lucrative contract with the club worth £180,000 a week, despite reports suggesting that the German playmaker wants to leave the Emirates.

Various reports suggested that Ozil had refused to sign a new contract to remain with he Gunners and was considering to make a move away from the North London, with the La Liga giants Barcelona interested.

However, The Telegraph claims that Arsenal expect to reach an agreement with the world cup winner, despite interest from the Blaugrana.

If Arsenal can secure Ozil’s future at the Emirates it would be a massive boost for the North Londoners, just as they look to try and push for the Premier League title.

The Gunners have won two FA Cups since Ozil joined the Gunners on a five-year contract from Real Madrid in the summer of 2013.
